Frequently Asked Questions

  • How are the sessions conducted?

Most sessions are practical—you will play and interact a lot with your co-students. There is also some theory, but it is immediately reinforced with practical exercises. Our goal is to turn knowledge into skills.

  • Can I study just for myself, without aiming to become an actor?

Certainly! Acting skills are, first and foremost, a skill of conscious behavior. Theater and cinema are just narrow fields of application for this ability. Interestingly, politicians and intelligence personnel often possess acting skills and improvisation far better than some actors.

  • Are there any age restrictions?

Fortunately, there are no age restrictions for acting skills classes. Our students range from 17 to 60+ years old.

  • What is needed for the classes?

For the classes, you’ll need comfortable clothes and shoes, a notebook and pen, and a desire to participate and gain a unique experience of acting interaction with the world. 🙂

  • What if I’m afraid of being in public, afraid of public speaking?

Our instructors are very careful about their students. This course will help you understand the nature of your fears and overcome them, especially the fear of public speaking.

I want to express my gratitude for this course, as the knowledge and insights I gained are invaluable. I learned to feel both my own feelings and the world around me more deeply, dealt with fears and their root causes. After the course, I felt lighter because I found answers to many questions that had interested me or that I sensed intuitively but couldn’t formulate neither a question nor an answer. Powerful course! Strong instructor! Highly recommend.

I believe the best testimony to my experience is that after the Psychodrama course, I’m now taking other workshops by Misha: Conflictology (about fantastic creatures and ways to deal with them in an ecological manner) and Sensory Perception (anticipating and intrigued))). Perhaps I’ll enroll in the acting course, but it's a long-term project, and I love freedom and spontaneity too much. Highly recommend the Studio to all my conscious friends; by the way, it was a recommendation that brought me here! Three months after the Psychodrama course, I’ve made significant changes in my life, including using the skills learned during the course! Most importantly, learning at the Studio is fun, energizing, and extremely beneficial and inspiring! Thank you to our trainer and the entire team. See you!

Hello. I took the highly interesting and useful course "ACTING SKILLS AND PSYCHODRAMA FOR LIFE" with Misha Kostrov. We learned a lot, but the most important was awareness. I hadn’t realized how much I was "going with the flow", relying on others' values and missing out on much of the time I was living. Thank you to each of the wonderful, incredibly skilled instructors for the experience, knowledge, and part of your soul that you shared with us. It’s a truly invaluable experience, and my life will never be the same again. You helped me find answers to some of my questions and, most importantly, find myself! I continue learning and expanding the boundaries of my consciousness. Thanks to all my new colleagues. You are incredible!

I can't help but share my comments about this course! I attended the course "Acting and Psychodrama for Life". Before this, I took an acting course at another place, where I was recommended to try out the "Black Square" studio. I had tried to join this course several times before, but couldn't because of time constraints. And finally, on my third attempt, I made it here! What did this course give me? - I became more self-confident; - I became more uninhibited; - I gained a lot of interesting and useful information; - I overcame some of my fears; - throughout the course, I began to change my perception of many things. In the end, I was extremely satisfied with this course!!! I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to the instructor, Misha Kostrov, for the invaluable wealth of knowledge he shared!!! He is a true professional! You can listen to him for hours without looking away. I completely agree that you can learn from Misha even when he's just sitting silently 😁 All in all, THANK YOU SO MUCH for the course, and until we meet again!!!💝😌🤗

I don't want to write clichéd and overly enthusiastic nonsense like, "I woke up a different person after this course" or "This course changed my entire life" - though, in essence, it’s all appropriate. I didn’t want anyone to think this was a paid review. I'll put it this way: if you've reached a point in life where you have serious questions to yourself and the World, then this is a place where you can, oddly enough, find many answers. And it doesn’t matter who you are or what you do in life. At the very least, you'll have a great time among cheerful, interesting people with a wonderful instructor. And isn’t that what truly matters in life?

So, this is the time for the last class. On one hand, it feels like I've slowly blinked, and on the other, like an eternity has passed, and now I'm full of wisdom sitting atop a mountain, delivering wisely wise thoughts... I don't want to leave. After our session, there’s an acting skills entering exam. I thought, "Okay, I'll watch one or two people and head home." Then, blinked again... and it was dusk😂. I left with the last participant))). I read a review from a classmate: "You can learn from Misha even when he's just sitting silently." Absolutely! Yes and yes!)) I'll add my own thoughts: If someone asked me whether I’d recommend this course, I would answer like this: choosing between attending the opening of an art exhibition featuring two of my own paintings (I’d been preparing for nearly three months, there’s a diploma ceremony, all the fanfare and such) - and attending a class with Misha, I would choose... (theatrical pause 🥁) a class with Misha! 👏 Thank you! And see you again 😊

Magic happens, even when you don’t believe in it... I casually enrolled in "yet another" theatre course for additional training, thinking, "Well, I’ll find something for myself anyway." But I finished it feeling like I'd spent a couple of years in Tibetan monasteries. I'll start with this: I met a person whom I'm ready to call the most holistic individual I've ever encountered with (as far as I can judge based on my perspective and life experience), and that person is Misha Kostrov himself. His system of interacting with the world (as I perceived and reconstructed it in my mind, of course) simply and genuinely fills me with admiration. I don’t know how he does it, but you can listen to him for hours and lose track of time. I haven’t experienced this feeling for a long time. You can learn from Misha even when he’s just sitting silently. And I’m not exaggerating. In just six classes, I received so many practical tools and made so many immediate changes that I haven't gotten from any training, nor from working with psychologists or coaches. These aren't just motivational platitudes or empty success talk, but practical, down-to-earth tools with clear protocols. As straightforward as they are, they are just as magical. So yes, I did “wake up a different person.” And, once again, I’m not exaggerating here. I no longer have any doubts over the advisability of taking other courses in this Studio.

For me, what was it about? About a journey to myself, a return to who I truly am, a search for what had become dormant, hidden into shadows. About what I had stopped noticing but what was so important. It was about regaining my inner truth. "Psychodrama" is just the beginning of that path to yourself. I can't say it's some kind of miraculous cure, though for some it might be, but it's definitely a path you can’t veer from once you've chosen it...

How could one possibly comprehend all that the program promised... How can you suddenly discover so much about yourself, and even reassess life, society, traumas, reality, and learn how to truly experience your feelings (or rather, find those feelings within yourself)? In the end, I felt like a dog that had just come out of a muddy river and started to shake itself off. That’s exactly how I felt—I shook off everything unnecessary in my life, saw many things from a new perspective, heard myself, and finally found the resources to live a life with feeling it. As clichéd as it sounds, “being here and now”, no matter how many times you hear, “feel yourself” or “step out of your comfort zone”... Oh, I stepped out, and oh, I felt it, and yes, right here, right now. Thank you for this course and for such a challenging yet fascinating program. I saw how each person who attended it left feeling fulfilled, open, and energised. There was practice, theory, pair work, self-reflection, immersions, and role-playing of different situations. And you realise that life is a game, but a sensual game. Thank you.

Hello everyone! I'm immensely grateful to Misha and Galina! We’re all actors in our lives. During this course, we learned seemingly simple things that we just hadn't paid attention to before. I learned to listen to myself and ask, "What do I want?" To understand whether this is my desire or someone else's, or if I’m just living out someone else’s wishes. I learned to get rid of fear. I discovered the difference between psychological abuse and manipulation and learned techniques to counter abuse. I learned to listen to my body and feel it. It sounds odd, but yes, to listen, to hear, and to feel... It’s so important. I realised that without this knowledge, it’s really difficult to play a quality life. I also liked the phrase "Stop being informational prostitutes" and "I am not interested in the contemporary mythology of Ukraine" — quotes from our instructor Misha Kostrov. I recommend this course to anyone who has the opportunity to take it...

An amazing course! This month of work has given me so much. Undoubtedly, I recommend this course to anyone who wants to better understand themselves and their own desires, to realise their true needs, and to learn how to fulfil them through body work.

My eyes have truly opened. I came to psychodrama not for an acting career, and now here I am on the 1st course of the Acting course. But I still have a different goal. I realised that to act well, you first need to get rid of the negativity inside, and we all have plenty of that. You need to be honest with yourself. The course is about self-expression, authenticity, how to kill complexes and fears, about emancipation. It’s not the easiest path, "hit one's nose against the pavement" is the most accurate description. I managed to let go of excessive patience, dependency, internal restrictions, to set personal boundaries, and I understood what drains my energy. I learned how to see and access resources. My worth is more than a couple of pennies. Only on my second attempt did I manage to bring my limiting beliefs to the surface; at first, I seemed I had none. Feeling is very important. For me, the key phrases were: "Look at what you don’t see". "Attention controls the reality". "We are the product of our imagination". "Be here and now". "Lack of purpose is the worst fate". "Place matters". I felt the changes, the strength within, and after that, the people and situations around me started to change, and those who weren't ready for this could move on—I’m no longer afraid of that.

We would appreciate your feedback on the course!
